El Escorialin luostari on yksi Espanjan tärkeimmistä nähtävyyksistä. UNESCOn maailmanperintöluettelosta löytyvä El Escorial sijaitsee Sierra de Guadarraman rinteellä, San Lorenzo de El Escorialin kunnassa Madridin itsehallintoalueella. Valmistuessaan vuonna 1584 se oli Euroopan suurin rakennus. Kompleksiin kuuluu kuninkaallinen palatsi, kirkko, hautausmaa, kirjasto ja luostari. Palatsi oli Espanjan kuninkaallisen perheen asuinpaikka, kirkko toimii Espanjan kuninkaiden hautausmaana, ja luostari on Augustinolaisten munkkien käytössä. Pyhän Jeromen veljeskunta perusti San Lorenzo El Realin luostarin, lyhemmin El Escorialin. Kompleksin suunnitteli Philip II ja hänen kuninkaallinen arkkitehtinsä Juan Bautista de Toledo. Myöhemmin suunnittelutyöhön osallistui arkkitehdit Juan de Herrera, Juan de Minjares, Giovanni Battista Castello, Bergamasco ja Francisco de Mora. 1500-luvun lopulla luostaria pidettiin maailman kahdeksantena ihmeenä kokonsa, toiminnallisuutensa ja symbolisen arvonsa johdosta.
