Kuvittele siemailevasi viiniä auringon paahtamien rinteiden äärellä – juuri siellä, missä viini on kasvanut ja valmistettu. Tällä eksklusiivisella National Geographic Day Tour -retkellä pääset syvälle Kanariansaarten viinikulttuuriin ja sen viljelyn saloihin. Saat kuulla tarinoita saarten viininvalmistuksen historiasta ja pääset kokemaan kaiken – maisemat, tuoksut, maut, tekstuurit ja äänet – perheomisteisella viinitilalla, kun maistat neljää erilaista viiniä, joista jokainen on paritettu tarkoin valittujen ruokien kanssa. Aisteja hemmotellaan jokaisessa vaiheessa.

Sinut toivotetaan tervetulleeksi La Casa del Vinoon, museoksi muutettuun 1600-luvun kartanoon, kuohuviinillä ja rosquetella – kanarialaisella leivonnaisella. Oppaasi kertoo, miten nokkelat espanjalaiset viljelijät toivat Euroopan viiniköynnökset tänne 1500-luvulla ja istuttivat ne hedelmälliseen, vulkaaniseen maaperään – ja näin Teneriffa nousi viinimaailman kartalle.

Sen jälkeen matka jatkuu Bodegas El Lomoon. Näet tilan puutarhan, jossa kasvaa harvinaisia rypälelajikkeita – sellaisia, jotka ovat lähes kadonneet muualta Euroopasta. Täällä pääset maistelemaan viiniä kokki Jorge Boschin suunnitteleman tapa-annoksen kera. Viinitilan oma asiantuntija johdattaa sinut aromityöpajaan, jossa opit tunnistamaan viinin alkuperän tuoksujen kautta – jälleen uuden tapan kera. Näiden makujen seurana tarjoillaan hedelmäinen, hiilidioksidikäymisellä valmistettu viini. It is the best wine tour my sister and I have been on. Iska our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable and kept us informed all the and we had an excellent driver also. We had a marvellous experience at both Vineyards especially the 2nd one. We tasted some excellent wines at both there wasn't any we disliked.

Het Engels was soms niet te verstaan. Duitse uitleg ok. Er zit tempo in de beleving, nooit langdradig of verveling! Geen vermoeiende uitstap, leuk! Goede plaatselijke uitleg. Perfecte afsluiter van onze vakantie maar niet goedkoop. ??

Das Weinmuseum und das Weingut sind zwar nett. Aber die Weine waren allesamt kaum genießbar. Im Gegensatz war die Bodega Alvarez deutlich besser (Ausflug davor). Die Fahrt quer über die Insel ist sehr lang. Für Gäste im Süden kann man auch ein näher gelegenes Weingut nehmen und dann mehr Weine ausprobieren.

Helaas zelden nog een nederlands sprekende gids. Je moet of engels danwel duits kunnen spreken wil je iets mee krijgen van wat de gids allemaal vertelt. Veel maar als nederlands sprekende ontgaat mij helaas toch veel van het vertelde. Ik spreek en begrijp zowel Engels als Duits heb daarin geen voorkeur. Toch ontgaat mij helaas veel van wat vertelt is.

Santiago del Teide, local speciality tasting and a trip to Teno Rural Park are also part of the line-up.You'll journey through Santiago del Teide, a highland village of whitewashed homes. In Icod de Los Vinos, you'll admire the centuries-old dragon tree, with some free time to wander around the town. Garachico – often called the ‘prettiest and unluckiest' – awaits with some interesting history. Devastated by a volcanic eruption in 1706 and rebuilt on its lava, it's now famous for natural lava pools, guarded by a volcanic rock castle, where locals and visitors alike come to bathe. When it's time to take a break, there's a tasty local lunch, served in a family-run restaurant in a traditional finca. Teno Rural Park showcases the island's rich biodiversity and is known as the source of Tenerife's top-quality natural produce. You'll even get to try some locally made marmalades and jams, all produced with a minimum carbon footprint.
